Oman American Business Center (AmCham Oman) hosted its first in-person event since the relaxation of event restrictions, at the Sheraton Oman Hotel.
As Oman’s largest and most active business networking group and an official affiliate of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Oman, OABC has been pleased to welcome old and new members. to focus on face-to-face reconnection. Members enjoyed the networking evening and a series of raffles sponsored by member companies: Talabat, Sheraton Oman Hotel, Booma, 3rd Street Donuts, Otaxi and Origo.
“While it may seem surprising for a membership organization during the pandemic, more than 75 new companies have joined OABC since January 2020,” said Rebecca Olson, Executive Director of OABC. “This was both despite and because of the challenges of getting online during Covid-19. OABC provided a strong network for businesses to continue making B2B connections with other professionals and information, without being able to meet physically. But now we’re ready to jump back into face-to-face action. “
To kick off this new season of Connection, the OABC has planned a very active in-person schedule: hosting bi-monthly business events and briefings over the coming year.
“While the OABC has worked tirelessly during the pandemic to keep members connected through ZOOM events and online, there is nothing quite like face-to-face business networking,” says Rebecca Olson. “Over the years, I’ve seen members meet new contacts at in-person events, and then I’ve seen those bonds develop over time into strong business relationships. The entire OABC team and board are very happy to see a return to physical events and wish the entire OABC community much more effective and enjoyable networking time.
Olson continues, “Like many ‘normal’ events that vanished during the darker months of the pandemic, we will never take physical encounters for granted again. After spending so much time alone, online and remotely, we are grateful for the opportunity to meet other people and we have a lot to catch up on!
